Tideswell is located in the heart of the Derbyshire Peak District about 7 miles from both Buxton and Bakewell. This is limestone country and the immediately surrounding countryside is lush green fields seperated by the regions iconic dry stone walls. There is great walking and cycling straight from the door, with the White Peak Way just a short walk down the road and just a couple of miles to the south there is Wye Dale, which for most of it’s length through this stretch of the Peak Disitrict is a mixture of Nature Reserve and SSSI. We have many many rare plant species, which along with the local wildlife makes it a brilliant place for nature lovers. We also have easy access to the recently opened Monsal Cycle Trail.
Tideswell itself is an old High Peak market town. It was granted it’s charter in the 13th century but has been around long before this. The local 14th Century church is so grand that is called The Cathedral Of The Peak. There is a thriving community here and there are many events throughout the year, including it’s own contribution to the famous Peak District Well Dressing tradition.
Further afield all of the Peak District’s major attractions are within easy reach. The great houses of Haddon hall and Chatsworth are just a 10 minute drive away, Dove Dale and the southern dales are half an hour drive while Edale, the Hope Valley and the austere and dramatic uplands of the Dark Peak are only 20 minutes away.
There are plenty of great places to eat too, with great local pubs as well as top class restaurants and if you need a cosmopolitan fix while you’re here then Manchester and Sheffield are both easy to get to and are less than an hour away by the local train service at Hope
